Senior Activities & Dues

Dear Mott Hall High School Seniors & Families,

As we travel the road to graduation, we want you to know we are here to collaborate and support you. As we begin to navigate this school year, we want to make sure you’re clear on the expectations for preparing to graduate. First, we want to be clear on what it takes to graduate. The New York State Education Department sets our graduation requirements. Students must earn specific course credits and pass specific Regents exams to earn a diploma. You can review these requirements at the NYC DOE’s Graduation Requirements page. You can also email administration if you have questions. Our emails are [email protected] and  [email protected].

You can view your or your child’s progress toward graduation in your NYC Schools Account. The Graduation Tracker within NYC Schools Account will show the courses and credits already earned, the courses and credits currently being taken, and the remaining credits needed to meet graduation requirements. If you need support accessing or reviewing the information, please contact Ms. Saldana at [email protected] or 212-694-6020 ext 4081.

As we begin the school year, there are some initiatives we value that we would appreciate your support with.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS - The following school uniform policy and New York City Department of Education’s dress code policy will be enforced at Mott Hall High School. Only uniforms may be worn to school, and all shirts must be tucked into pants/skirts at all times. It is the responsibility of the student to maintain their uniform. Uniforms will be worn to and from school. Students will not change clothes while at or after school except for physical education classes or special events.

  • Top: Hunter Green OR Black Mott Hall top with school logo (short sleeve t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, pullover hoodie, polo shirt, oxford shirt, zip hoodie, or cardigan sweater)
  • Bottoms: Appropriate pants, shorts, skirts, and sweatpants must fit at the waist and not sag. No torn, ripped pants, or cut-offs are allowed. All clothing must be hemmed, and shorts and skirts must be at least knee length.

CELL PHONE POLICY - As the school leaders at Mott Hall, we make decisions by prioritizing your children's needs first. As parents/guardians, you know that deciding what is best for your child sometimes means disappointing her or him now so that she or he can enjoy future benefits. We want students to be as intellectually engaged and emotionally supported as possible while in school. For this to happen, we are convinced that a system must be in place to ensure cell phones are away while in classrooms. Cell Phones must be away at all times within the classroom unless otherwise stated by the teachers in the classroom.

As a school, all staff members will remind students about the cell phone policy collectively as a class and privately if the student does not adhere after the first verbal reminder.

If a student does not adhere to the Cell Phone Policy, the following steps will take place:

  • STEP 1: Students will have to turn in their cellphone to the Director of School Culture or Dean of Culture until the end of the day,
  • STEP 2: Students stay after school for After School Reflection,
  • STEP 3: Parents will be notified
  • STEP 4: School Administration will be notified, and further consequences will be discussed.

We aim to ensure that every Mott Hall student meets their fullest potential and creates a classroom environment without distractions. Therefore, it is extremely important for students to adhere to this policy to have the best learning experience.

You can call the school or the principal’s cell number if you need to reach your child. We urgently seek your support in ensuring your child cooperates with this policy. We thank you for your partnership on this critical matter.
