Reporting Absences
EMERGENCY CONTACT
Our school community's attendance goal
Attendance matters. Missing a day of school means missing hours of instructional time. Research shows that students who attend regularly achieve greater success in school and in life. This continues to be true—even in in-person or remote learning environments. Our school’s collective goal for attendance remains the same. Whether in-person or remote, we want every child attending school every day or at least 95% of the school year.
ABSENCES
We understand some absences are unavoidable. In these cases, it is important to inform the school as soon as possible. You will receive an email, text or call from the DOE automated system to inform you of your child's absence. Please note that you will receive this message even if you report the absence in advance.
If your child is absent, please contact the school in any of the following ways:
-
Call the Main Office @ 212-694-6020
-
Email your child's Crew Leader, you can find all staff emails on the Staff Directory.
-
An absence note must be sent in when the student returns to school. You can send in a doctor's note or complete the Absence Reporting Form.
EXTENDED VACATION ABSENCES
Extended vacations during the school year are not considered excused absences. We understand that there are emergencies that are beyond our control. Extended absences create a loss of learning and makes it difficult for students to stay on track for graduation. In the event of an extended absence, please provide the following to the school:
-
If you are traveling, please provide flight information including return information.
-
Complete the Student Extended Absence Form.
