What is Future Ready NYC?
Future Ready NYC is a NYC Public Schools initiative that connects high school learning to real, in-demand careers. Students earn college credit, build industry skills, and complete work-based learning, graduating ready for college and well-paid, future-proof jobs.

Who’s participating?
Mott Hall High School is part of the Technology pathway and is 1 of 19 NYC high schools offering the Cybersecurity Analyst program. We’re proud to bring this high-growth field to our students and community.
What students learn
- Foundations: hardware, operating systems, networking, scripting basics
- Security Core: threat types, vulnerabilities, risk management, incident response
- Defensive Tools: endpoint protection, SIEM/log analysis, identity/access, cloud basics
- Professional Skills: documentation, teamwork, ethics, and communication
Certifications & experiences (examples)
- Prep for industry certs such as CompTIA (ITF+/A+/Network+/Security+, as appropriate)
- Work-based learning: site visits, career panels, problem-solving with industry partners
- Capstone: a real security scenario with documentation and presentation
Outcomes: Graduates leave with practical skills, a portfolio/capstone, and a clear plan for college majors (Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems) or entry-level tech roles with further training.
