Welcome Parents and Students!

Hello parents and students, and welcome to an exciting new school year! My name is Enrique Hernandez and I am thrilled to join this community as your Social Studies teacher. I’m truly looking forward to getting to know each student and supporting them as learners, thinkers, and young leaders.

Social Studies has always been my passion because I believe it can be a powerful vehicle for change. In our classroom, students will explore the world around them, develop a strong sense of social consciousness, and learn how history, culture, and civic engagement shape the future. My goal is to help them build the knowledge and confidence to make thoughtful, positive contributions to their communities.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy cycling, playing video games, and participating in community service, all of which help me stay connected, energized, and motivated. I’m excited to bring that same energy into our class and create an environment where curiosity, reflection, and growth thrive.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with your students this year and can’t wait to see all that we will accomplish together.

Global year 1:

9th Graders  will take an exciting journey through early world history—starting with the first humans and ancient civilizations and moving all the way to the first age of global exploration. They'll learn how people lived, how cultures grew, and how ideas, technologies, and belief systems spread across the world. Our class focuses on building curiosity and confidence. Students will explore maps, artifacts, stories, and real historical sources to discover how connected our world has always been—and why it matters today.

Global Year 2:

In 10th grade, students fast‑forward into a world on the edge of major change—starting around 1750 and racing into the modern day. They'll explore revolutions, industrialization, nationalism, imperialism, world wars, the Cold War, decolonization, and the rise of our globally connected world.  Through stories of real people, big ideas, and world‑shaping events, students will discover how technology, conflict, culture, and global movements shaped the world they live in today

US History:

This year, students dive into the story of America—from its colonial beginnings to the complex nation we live in today. They'll explore how the Constitution was built, how the country expanded, and how conflicts like the Civil War reshaped the nation. As the year moves forward, students will uncover how industrialization, immigration, and urban life transformed America; how the U.S. rose as a world power; and how major events like the World Wars, the Cold War, and the Civil Rights Movement shaped modern society. We end the course by examining recent history—globalization, social change, and America’s role in an interconnected world—helping students understand how past decisions continue to influence today’s challenges
